Treated Pine Sleepers
Best value up to 1.5mH4 treated pine sleepers — the most popular retaining wall on the Coast. Strong, cost-effective, and looks natural in any garden. We use 200×50mm H4 sleepers with steel posts set in concrete footings, gravel backfill, and ag pipe drainage. Great for garden beds, driveway edges, and property boundary terracing up to about 1.5m height. Lifespan: 15–25 years.
Concrete Sleepers
Maximum strengthPre-stressed concrete sleepers — the strongest option. Handles walls up to 2.4m+ with engineer approval. Steel posts set in deep concrete footings, gravel drainage layer, and ag pipe. Zero maintenance, fireproof, and completely termite-proof. Popular for tall cut-and-fill situations, steep driveways, and commercial-grade walls. Lifespan: 40+ years.
Sandstone Blocks
Premium natural lookNatural sandstone blocks — the premium choice for feature walls and front-yard statements. Each block is different, giving a unique natural look that improves with age. Built dry-stacked or with mortar, with proper drainage behind. Best for walls under 1.2m where you want a natural, high-end finish. Lifespan: 50+ years.
Rock & Boulder Walls
Natural, rustic lookNatural rock and boulder retaining walls — great for acreage properties, rural driveways, and garden terracing where you want a natural, organic look. We source local rock and place each piece for stability and appearance. Can be built as dry-stack (drainage through the gaps) or with mortar for taller walls.

Proper Footings
Posts set in concrete footings at the correct depth for your soil type and wall height. No cutting corners on the part you can't see — it's the foundation of a straight wall.
Gravel Backfill
300mm+ of gravel behind every wall. This creates a drainage layer so water flows down to the ag pipe instead of building up behind the wall and pushing it over.
Ag Pipe Drainage
Slotted agricultural pipe at the base of every wall, wrapped in geotextile fabric, graded to an outlet. Water drains away instead of saturating the soil behind the wall.
Engineer-Approved Design
For walls over 1m, near boundaries, or holding up structures, we coordinate with engineers to get the design signed off. Your wall meets Australian Standards (AS 4678).

H4 treated pine rated for in-ground use, pre-stressed concrete sleepers, or premium sandstone — no shortcuts on materials. We use what's specified for the job, not whatever's cheapest.

Site Assessment
I visit your property, measure the slope, check soil type and drainage, and work out the best wall type for the height. If engineering is needed, I'll coordinate that before we quote.
Quote & Permits
Fixed-price quote with the wall type, height, length, drainage system, and timeline all spelled out. If council approval or engineering is needed, we handle that side — you get one quote covering everything.
Excavation & Footings
We dig the footing trench to the correct depth, set steel or timber posts in concrete, and establish a level foundation line. This is the most important part of the job — we take our time getting it right.
Wall Build & Drainage
Sleepers or blocks go in, backfilled with gravel as we go. Ag pipe is laid at the base, graded to an outlet. The wall takes shape quickly once the footings are set.
