How Much Does a Fence Cost on the Sunshine Coast?
Real numbers, not a range that starts at “it depends”. Here's what fencing actually costs locally, and what changes the price.
The honest answer is that fencing is priced per linear metre, and the metre rate depends on the material, the height, and how hard your site is to work on. Below are our actual rates so you can budget properly before anyone comes out.
All prices are supply and install, GST included where applicable.

What pushes a quote up
The metre rate above assumes reasonable access and normal ground. These are the things that genuinely change the number:
- —Removal and disposal of the old fence — quoted separately, and it depends on the existing fence and how easy it is to get out.
- —Difficult access. If a machine or a trailer can't get to the fence line, everything is carried by hand and that takes longer.
- —Rock or excessive excavation. Sunshine Coast blocks vary enormously — some are sand, some are rock a spade won't touch.
- —Sloping ground. A raked or stepped fence takes more labour than a flat run, and usually more materials.
- —Height above the standard. Most residential fencing is 1.8m; taller costs more per metre.
What doesn't usually change it
Length alone is the main driver — a longer fence costs more because you're buying more metres, not because the metre rate goes up. There's no premium for a bigger job; if anything, long straight runs are the most efficient work there is.
Getting an accurate number
Rates get you close, but the only way to get a firm figure is to have someone measure your actual fence line and look at the ground. That's free, and it takes about twenty minutes.
